Journal #10 M&N

Updated: Nov 30, 2022

M is for model. In our photography class, we did

a huge photoshoot with three models: Ramon, Nellie, and Jackie. Here is Ramon, being his photogenic self. Ramon was great to work with, as he knew exactly what to do and how to pose. Our goal was to get at least one candid shot, and we got one when he asked how many photos I was going to take in one shot as I wanted to get as many as I could so I wouldn't miss anything that could have been a good shot. I think that these photos are amazing because I barely had to do any editing as the light was set to perfection, and Ramon was nailing the poses. It took a couple taller people to set up the backdrop and the lighting because I m not that tall and needed seem help. This was pretty simple to do, and was easy to set up. There was a time crunch to set up everything and get Ramon serious. The light was mainly hard light the whole time, which brought out more texture and details.

N is for Notorious Nellie. This is Nellie, one of my peers in Mr. Mazor's photography class, and she was selected to be out model. I was attempting to capture sass in this photo, and the natural attitude of Nellie! I personally like this photo because of her attitude, and the lighting really bounces on her face. I told Nellie to look at Seth (another one of my peers taking her photos) and to smile. This was pretty simple to approach as it was just like a school photo. The only challenge I had was during editing, and tat was getting her sweatshirt not to blend into the black backdrop in the background. Since the light was coming from her left (our right) the right side of her jacket was blending into the background because there was hardly any light on that side. This was not ideal for the photo. I would have liked to use the ring light, or maybe a color light to add more pop into her photos. I would have changed this after taking some photos in this light setting, to compare how the photos are and which ones are ideal for Nellie, her hair color and her jacket. I used a 50 mm lens for this project. I had to boost some of the color in her hair as her hair even tried blending into the background as well, but with the lens choice, I should have used the wider lens to get as much light as I could.
