Journal #8 I&J

Updated: Nov 30, 2022

I stands for itty-bitty. I really like this photo because of the greens, yellows and reds. My main goal was to get a good shot of the berries. I had to climb a tree to get the right angle in the sun, but other than that, I managed to get the perfect shot. This was not easy to accomplish. I almost slipped multiple times, but I managed to not die, which was nice. The sun was out and there wasn't a cloud in the sky, which made the shot look crisp and clear. I was worried the extremeness of the sun would make the brightness too bright, but it was perfect. I would have liked to get more berries in the photo, with more pins and reds, but this photo is still good nonetheless. I didn't use a tripod, and I wouldn't have wanted to as the tree was pretty tall.

J stands for just. I like this photo because the yellows and greens compliment each other, but don't take away from the blues in the background. I was trying to take a photo of a bird in the tree, but the bird flew away before I could take the photo. I just saw a bird and decided to take a photo, but instead I got a tree. Just a tree. This was easy to approach. Anyone can take pictures of a tree. What makes my tree better than others? Using a short lens instead of a wide lens was difficult as if I had a wide lens when I took the photo, I would have been able to take the photo of the bird quickly and efficiently. The light was dimming, as it was close to sundown. I shot is light that just seemed to hit every area; it was golden hour. It was very ideal for this certain picture because it made the yellows of the leaves stick out more against the greens and brown. The photo could have been better if there was a bird, as the golden hour could hav made the bird appear to glow in the tree, kind of taking away most of the attention from the leaves.

I like the different colors in the photo for J and how well they look together!
